Friendly weakness

Friendly Weakness (The Dependent Neurotic) is one of the four quadrants involved in the process in which The four quadrants. The Dependent Neurotic is not in retreat at all; they advance upon you, demanding fulfillment of emotional “needs” (imprints). This type was known in the medieval psychology of “humours” as Phlegmatic. These types were identified with the Angel archetype and the water element: these people are “too sensitive to fight” and “go with the flow.” In Transactional Psychology, this type is categorized by the life script: “i’m not ok, you’re ok.” This type who generally turns up in the psychotherapist’s office seeking reimprinting voluntarily. They are not-okay, but they have great faith that the therapist is okay. According to the Leary Interpersonal Grid, this type is self-critical, shy, timid, easily led, “spineless,” and always looking for somebody to Take Charge and Give Orders. The unearthly Angel, or in modern symbolism, the Flower Child. This type is associated with the evangelist Matthew and the astrological sign Cancer (astrology).
