Elevated levels of cortisol can shrink the hippocampus 🧠
The hippocampus is one of the most vulnerable areas in the brain to cell death. One of the serial killers that attacks the neurons in the hippocampus is cortisol. The longer your cortisol levels stay elevated, the smaller and more vulnerable your hippocampus becomes.
